Silver Spoon

Silverspoon Manga

Honestly the calf at the begining was insanely precious and the art style caught my attention immedietly. The story is about a guy named Hachiken, who just enrolled into an agricultural school- He's asked if he has any dreams and he meets them with silence (maybe some angst?) He's more of a booksmart kind of guy and his innermonolog talks about the other students being idiots because they dont know basic math, and get low scores on exams- But theyre geniuses in their fields of expertice! I appreciated that because IM a bumbling idiot but I know a lot about art, character design history and stuff !! So not completely useless!

I read up until chapter 4 and the feel of the manga seems very comedic and light hearted- Just a coming of age story about a boy trying to find his place in the world, and not really sure what his dream is, it's incredibly relateable even if its about agricultural school of all things. Its really funny and I enjoy it so far.

I feel like more often than not it's expected to have dreams but sometimes you just, dont. I felt that way for a long time before coming to ringling, I didnt think my art was good enough and I wasn't good at much else- Hachikens experience is relatable in the sense were sometimes youre put onto a path even if you dont know where it will lead, but its okay to be tired while doing it amd still have fun? Dreams arent everything, sometimes you just gotta go with the flow and hope for the best.

I feel like Silverspoon would make for a good visual novel game, in all honesty. The story so far it seems simple enough (with a light sprinkle of tropes that work well within the visual novel medium in general) that with a few changes it could be very endearing story to click through. Some alternate story lines would be a simple enough change that could make it work within the visual novel medium. For example you could be given choices on Hachiken actually joining the Equestrian club or maybe he actually chooses the Contest Cow club and that sets his path differently. Obviously there would be a True end, Good end, and Bad end- and depending on the choices you make for him you'll get different iterations on the Silverspoon story which would be pretty fun.
