The boom in popularity in japan for the first Pokemon games Red and Green didn't happen upon the general release- but when notable Japanese magazine Corocoro announced A contest for a Distribution on the Mythical Pokemon Mew- Over 78,000 people entered and sales boomed shortly after- resulting in the third sister game with improved graphics, Pokemon Blue.


And after all these years Corocoro is still a very notable magazine regarding Pokemon- This week they announced another Pokemon contest to name a Pokemon steel-type battle move that will be showcased in the upcoming game!
